We believe that dermatology should be accessible to all. We also know that for a lot of people, it’s not. We’re here to bridge the gap between a doctor’s visit and a trip down the skincare aisle. By providing expert knowledge, thoughtful counsel, and effective products, we empower people to take their skin health into their own hands, and ultimately make good choices that work for them.

Founded by a board-certified dermatologist, SLMD Skincare makes products that address real skin conditions the way a doctor would. We want people to look in the mirror and not just feel confident that their skin looks good, but to know why — and how to keep it that way.

Sandra Lee, MD helped develop every formula and system to create acne products that she knows will work.

Are you tired of wasting time waxing or shaving, only to find that your hair grows back too quickly? Laser hair removal is a more successful and permanent way to remove unwanted hair. Laser treatments disrupt the hair growth process, resulting in thinner, slower hair regrowth.

Common Areas Treated

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

A variety of treatment areas

allows you to tailor your hair removal treatment. People see the most dramatic effects when used to treat the face, neck, arms, legs, and bikini line. Areas with thicker or coarser hair, such as the chest and back, can see a significant thinning of hair, but you may not achieve total hair removal.

Spaced treatments,

about six weeks apart, mean you don’t have to continually pluck, shave, or otherwise remove your hair. Most people will require five to nine treatments to achieve their ideal results. However, you will require less maintenance between treatments than you do with other hair removal methods.

Long-lasting results

mean you can feel more confident and comfortable with your body. That sudden fear that your legs aren’t smooth enough or that you’ll be late because you need to shave won’t happen anymore. Laser hair removal can give you the peace of mind that other hair removal methods can’t.

Pre-Treatment Tips

Treatment areas should be shaved before each session, but you shouldn’t tweeze, wax, or undergo electrolysis within four weeks of your treatment. Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and tanning creams for four weeks before and during your treatment course. Discontinue using exfoliating creams at least three days before your treatment. Please notify your physician of any pre-existing skin conditions, such as cold sores.

Post-Treatment Tips

You may return to normal activities immediately following your treatment. Redness and mild irritation may last for several days. Clean areas with a fragrance-free cleanser, and apply a topical antibiotic ointment to the treatment area if needed for additional healing. Always apply sunscreen to your treatment area daily and avoid excess sun exposure.

** Please note: Laser Hair Removal for Full Back, Full Chest, and/or Full Leg areas cannot be accommodated

At Skin Physicians & Surgeons, we can repair stretched or torn earlobes in our office using only local anesthetic. Torn and elongated ear lobes can be repaired with a minor surgical procedure while most torn ear lobes can be repaired by simply taking out the edges of the tear and repositioning the new edges evenly and allowing them to heal in place.

Elongated and misshaped earlobes can be shortened or reshaped to provide a more attractive, youthful appearance. If your problem is that your earrings tend to point downward, you can see significant improvement after using a filler injection (Restylane or Juvederm) which will make thin earlobes thicker and help to support those heavy, down-turned earrings.

Aging causes the weakening of tissues, which has a pronounced effect on the eye area. Drooping upper eyelid tissue can obscure your natural eye crease and impair your vision. Bulging tissue in the upper eyelids can cause your eyes to appear puffy. Excess, sagging skin can lead to a chronically fatigued expression.

The Benefits of Eyelid Lift Surgery

  • Minimal scarring
  • Eliminates excess skin
  • Improves eyelid contours
  • Improves impaired vision
  • Restores a youthful appearance

Tickle Lipo™ is FDA approved and provides patients with a more comfortable, safe, and effective procedure for fat removal and body sculpting. The cannula (thin hollow needle) is able to move through more stubborn fibrous areas of fat to provide better results with less surgery time and a shorter recovery period.

What is a Tumescent Liposuction?

Tumescent liposuction is a body-sculpting procedure that injects a large volume of fluid with local anesthetic and adrenaline into the tissue. This process shrinks capillaries, which reduces bleeding, and hardens fat, making it easier to remove.

The tumescent technique produces profound and long-lasting local anesthesia of the skin and subcutaneous fat.

What is a Tumescent Liposuction session like ?

A local anesthetic is used to numb the area of your body where the tube will be inserted. Next, a large amount of an anesthetic solution containing lidocaine and epinephrine is injected into the fatty tissue before traditional liposuction is done.

What results can be expected from Tumescent Liposuction ?

After the procedure, the area of the body that was treated is firmly wrapped to help reduce swelling, bruising, and pain. Elastic bandages and tape, support hose (such as those used to treat varicose veins), a special girdle, or another type of firm-fitting garment may be used, depending on which part of the body was treated. You may have to wear the compression garment or wrap for 3 to 4 weeks. Expect a lot of bruising and swelling for at least the first 7 to 10 days.

Benefits

The miraDry® treatment is the only FDA-cleared treatment that can dramatically reduce underarm sweat and odor by addressing the root cause – not the symptoms.

Hyperhidrosis is the clinic term for excessive sweating.

For anyone who is tired of dealing with underarm sweat, odor, and hair, a solution is available: miraDry®. A non-invasive, permanent and FDA approved procedure that can reduce underarm issues in as little as one treatment.

How does miraDry® work ?

miraDry uses thermal energy to reduce the number of sweat and odor glands in your underarms—meaning you’ll experience much less perspiration and odor.

What is a miraDry® session like ?

First, your dermatologist will numb your underarm and mark the area with a template guide. Then a handheld applicator is used to target sweat and odor glands beneath the underarm skin. Once your sweat and odor glands are destroyed, they do not regenerate.

What results can be expected from miraDry®?

Most patients report a dramatic, permanent reduction of their underarm sweat. In a recent clinical study, the average underarm sweat reduction was 82%. You should notice a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person.

There’s little downtime after a miraDry® treatment, but you should expect some swelling and soreness for a few days after the procedure.

Hair loss and thinning affect men and women alike, often negatively impacting their confidence and self-esteem. Although treatments to regrow lost hair are available, many are invasive or problematic in other ways. Prescription medications for hair loss and thinning can cause unpleasant side effects, while a hair transplant is a costly surgical procedure that has a lengthy recovery time. However, an emerging treatment called PRP, or platelet rich plasma for hair loss, works differently to stimulate hair regrowth.

What Medical Conditions Can Be Treated with PRP Therapy?

PRP has a well-documented history of success in the fields of reconstructive surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, oral surgery, and facial rejuvenation. This successful track record prompted researchers to study the effects of PRP therapy in the treatment of bald spots and hair loss and thinning in men and women.

How Does Platelet Rich Plasma for Hair Loss Work?

PRP therapy uses the components found in your own blood to promote hair regrowth. Blood plasma contains platelets, which are rich in growth factors that stimulate regeneration and cell growth. These factors trigger hair growth by stimulating the cells in hair follicles, prolonging the period in which hair actively grows, and even producing new hair follicles. Studies have shown that PRP treatment can lead to regrowth of hair for those suffering from hair loss or thinning.

What Happens When You Undergo PRP for Hair Loss?

A treatment session of PRP for hair loss begins with a standard blood draw from your arm. The vial of blood is placed into a machine called a centrifuge, which works by rapidly spinning the blood and separating out the platelets and plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected directly into the target area of the scalp, at the level of the hair follicles. Our Forefront dermatologists will carefully inject small amounts of PRP into the areas of your scalp that have thinning hair.

The entire procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete, and little to no downtime is required. Most patients require multiple treatment sessions—typically once a month for three months. Additional treatments once every three to six months are usually needed to maintain results. These follow-up treatments are needed to boost the factors that contribute to hair regrowth.

PRP treatment schedules are determined by a variety of factors, such as the pattern and amount of hair loss, genetics, hormones, and age. During your initial consultation with one of our Board-Certified Forefront dermatologists, your doctor will discuss with you how many platelet rich plasma hair treatments you’ll need.

What Results Can I Expect from Platelet Rich Plasma Hair Treatment?

Consistency is key when it comes to getting PRP injection hair treatment. If you follow the treatment schedule outlined by our Forefront dermatologists, you should see results within three to six months. Hair growth takes time, and your results will appear gradually. Decreased hair shedding is one of the results that patients notice first, followed by early hair regrowth and increased hair length. Blood flow, hormones, age, and gender are just a few of the variables that can impact when results first appear and how noticeable they are.

The MiXto® treatment is giving all the benefits of traditional laser resurfacing, without general anesthesia, pain and prolonged downtime.

The benefits to the Patient are:

  • Immediate shrinkage of damaged skin
  • Minimal discomfort with topical anesthetic
  • Minimal downtime (5 days)
  • Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Removal of age and sun spots
  • New collagen production for up to one year following treatment.

What can MiXto treat?

MiXto can be used to treat the following skin conditions:

  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Mild skin laxity
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Skin growths & lesions
  • Sun damage, including actinic keratosis
  • Age spots

How does Microneedling work ?

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles.

SkinPen also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. SkinPen benefits are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse Micropen ™ also has a positive effect on acne scars and traumatic scars and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin. Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results.

However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

What can Microneedling treat ?

Symptoms include uneven skin texture and pigmentation, scars, aged skin, fine lines and wrinkles and stretch marks.

What is a microneedling session like ?

About an hour and a half before treatment, your dermatologist will apply a topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort. Then a handheld device is carefully used to make a pattern of pin pricks in your skin, promoting collagen production. The entire treatment typically takes 20 mintes – followed by an after treatment, a serum or calming treatment will be applied to your skin.

What results can be expected from microneedling?

Forefront dermatologists are expertly trained to administer microneedling treatments. Due to their training, they are able to ensure maximum effectiveness by getting deeper into the skin, further stimulating the healing process.

Microneedling recovery takes about three days.

How does a Chemical Peel work?

A chemical peel is a skin treatment wherein a chemical solution is applied by a skincare specialist to the skin causing it to blister and peel, exposing a new layer and improving appearance.

They come in a range of strengths, from deeper phenol-based peels to more superficial peels like glycolic acid – your dermatologist will recommend the correct strength, and interval for your skin type.

What can a Chemical Peel treat?

Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of skin conditions like:

  • acne scars
  • age spots
  • aging skin
  • crow’s feet
  • hyperpigmentation
  • rough or uneven skin texture
  • sun-damaged skin
  • wrinkles

What is a Chemical Peel session like?

Your experience will vary depending on the strength of the peel, for light and medium peels you may receive a local anesthetic. For very deep chemical peels, you may require general anesthesia.

After your skin has been numbed, a chemical peel solution is applied to your face and is left to take effect. The amount of time left on your skin will depend on the specific type of peel, from a few seconds up to an hour, as determined by your dermatologist.

Some peels will be neutralized with water, and then a protective mask or layer of petroleum jelly is placed on your treated skin.

What results can be expected from a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels will vary in result, depending on the area, skin type, the type of peel and what kind of result you are expecting. It is strongly recommended that you consult a qualified dermatologist to get the best results.
